(find your ip address by clicking on Start > Run > TYPE "cmd", TYPE "ipconfig/all", your IP address will be by your PCI lan card device!"
HERE = last 3 digits of your IP)
Check the Enable box

TO HOST (go to second row)

Application = zone host

(find your ip address by clicking on Start > Run > TYPE "cmd", TYPE "ipconfig/all", your IP address will be by your PCI lan card device!"

LinkSys BEFSX41 - Fails with these on MW 4 also

Post by Rx » Sat Jul 09, 2005 9:43 pm

This did not work with Comcast - on MechWarrior 4 either.

I am thinking it is LinkSys - that has problems.

Comcast only provides one TCP/IP + MAC address.
I set up Comcast as the TCP/IP + MAC Address - gave my XBox and 3 other computers a static IP. Other games needed a port open, forwared and that worked fine.

Now we get to Microsoft and FASA - who only want to provide one generic and useless error.
I bypassed the LinkSys, put Comcast directly to my computer with the orginal IP and MAC. - It joins a MW 4 game just fine.
OK, Now, I hook the LinkSys up - and choose the port 4 as the DMZ for the same computer. Can see the games listed, see the details but get the ERROR when trying to join.
Turned off DMZ and went with your instructions.
My local XP Firewall asked me if I wante to let Puffin Soft forward the ports, I agree. Same Error conditions.

I have successfully forwarded the ports for FTP and other games.
There must be a problem with LinkSys - (I do have the lastest firmware).
