Static IP Network + BEFSR41 Router + dedicated server...help

Post by blktech_2006 » Sun Jun 18, 2006 5:23 pm

Here's the situation. I have 2 son's who play MW4: Vengeance besides myself. We have a LAN in the house with 10 static IP addresses. The machine which will be used as a dedicated server has a static IP address. The router (BEFSR41 - Linksys) has 2 IP addresses both static. One assigned by the ISP and the other I assigned for the LAN. One son lives across the city and one in the house with me. I can run the dedicated server and the the 2 of us in the house can play on the dedicated server without having to forward any ports without any lag or problems. The son who lives across town has the actual IP address the ISP assigned us and can't connect to the server.

The dedicated server has the firewall disabled when running. How do I configure DXport so he can access the server? Or, is there another method I have to use? I didn't use the "-ipx" option in the .bat file so it would use TCP/IP by default. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I don't think dxport will help you. What is between the Server and the internet connection?

For you remote son to play you will need to forward these ports (and maybe more) on your router to your server:

27999 TCP SERVER PORTS FOR MW4
28800 UDP SERVER PORTS FOR MW4
28805 TCP SERVER PORTS FOR MW4
28806 TCP SERVER PORTS FOR MW4
28807 TCP SERVER PORTS FOR MW4
28808 TCP SERVER PORTS FOR MW4
47624 TCP SERVER PORTS FOR MW4
